My name is Braden Newell – I’m an Atlantic Canadian technology educator and municipal politician with a life’s mission is to make technology to understand by sharing my expertise of the Apple ecosystem, cybersecurity, and digital productivity.
Over my decade-plus in the technology sector, I’ve developed a talent for translating complex technical topics into “simpler speak” by creating modern and engaging learning experiences. During that time, I’ve become a talented writer, award-winning videographer, and experienced public speaker, helping people learn both in-person and virtually.
I work as a Learning Experience Designer II at Jamf, where I co-authored two security-focused certification courses and built several asynchronous e-learning experiences exploring the company’s cybersecurity portfolio. Throughout my career I’ve also worked as a Creative Pro at Apple, helping people learn about their personal technology; writer for Pocket-lint and MobileSyrup, primarily covering Apple; instructor at Acadia University, teaching Business Technology Management within its School of Business Administration; and freelance consultant helping individuals, small businesses, and non-profits better understand their technology needs.
I hold a Master of Business Administration, concentrating in technology innovation, from the University of Fredericton, and a Bachelor of Commerce, majoring in computing and information systems, from Saint Mary’s University. I’m also an Apple Certified iOS and Mac Technician, Apple Certified Support Professional, Jamf Certified Admin for Jamf Pro and Jamf Protect, and CompTIA A+ certified, proving my technical and industry knowledge. I’m actively pursuing my CompTIA Security+ certification.
In my spare time, I represent my community as a Councillor with the Town of Bridgewater, Chair of the Energize Bridgewater Advisory Committee, and member of Junior Achievement of Nova Scotia’s board of directors and Park View Education Centre’s School Advisory Council. I’m also heavily interested in personal finance and the proud dog dad to Simba and Honey.
